Tyler Cameron Explains Controversial Walk-Off After Dancing With the Stars Elimination

Entertainment News | October 29, 2026

Reality TV personality Tyler Cameron has addressed the moment he appeared to walk away from the cameras after receiving disappointing judges’ scores on Dancing with the Stars. His explanation came after he and professional dance partner Sharna Burgess were eliminated during the show’s Horror Movie Night on October 27.

In a video shared on social media after the episode, Cameron described his reaction as a “real human moment” and admitted it was not a moment he was proud of. He explained that he thought filming had finished and needed to step away after becoming upset about the scores.

A disappointing score on Horror Movie Night

Cameron and Burgess performed a Dracula-inspired Viennese waltz to Annie Lennox’s “Love Song for a Vampire.” The routine received a total of 26 points out of 40: three judges awarded 7 points each, while guest judge Shirley Ballas gave the performance 5 points.

The judges raised concerns about aspects of Cameron’s posture and technique. Cameron said he understood the performance was a critical moment in the competition and felt the pair needed a strong score to continue.

Why Cameron walked away

Cameron said he was disappointed in himself and felt he had let Burgess down. He described the moment as emotionally difficult, explaining that he had hoped to perform well and advance to the following week.

He later apologized for allowing his emotions to take over and expressed gratitude for the experience, his partner and the support he received from viewers. He also said he was proud of his journey on the show, despite the difficult ending.

Sharna Burgess defends their performance

Burgess offered a different perspective on the judges’ marks. She said she was proud of Cameron and felt parts of the dance had been performed beautifully. She also questioned the 7-point scores and suggested the routine deserved higher marks, while acknowledging that the competition had been challenging.

The elimination was part of a double exit on Horror Movie Night. Cameron and Burgess were sent home alongside Jackson Olson and professional partner Emma Slater.

A difficult ending to the DWTS journey

Cameron’s exit followed an emotional appearance the previous week, when he and his fiancée, Tate Madden, shared news that they were expecting a baby. Despite the disappointment of leaving the competition, Cameron described his time on the show as an important and memorable experience.

The on-camera walk-off prompted discussion among viewers, but Cameron’s subsequent explanation offered context for his reaction. His comments and Burgess’s support highlighted the emotional pressure contestants can experience while performing and receiving live scores.
